The\u00a0first interactive whiteboard was manufactured by SMART\u00a0Technologies Incorporated in 1991. \u00a0Educators were the first people to recognize the interactive\u00a0whiteboards potential as a tool for collaboration, improving\u00a0student learning outcomes, and streamlining lesson\u00a0planning. Educators continue to comprise the largest user\u00a0base for this technology.<\/p>\n<p>Simply put an interactive whiteboard is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0large screened computer that you can write on.<\/li>\n<li>Allows teachers create a presentation tailored to our students that is more engaging then watching us write on the board.<\/li>\n<li>Allows us to make better use of our in class time with our students.<\/li>\n<li>Allows the students to be more active in the classroom, creating a sense of control over their own learning.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Interactive whiteboards raise the level of student engagement in a classroom,\u00a0<\/span>motivate students and promote enthusiasm for learning. Interactive whiteboards support different learning styles and are used in a variety of learning environments, including those catering to students with hearing and visual impairments \u00a0Research also indicates that notes taken on an interactive whiteboard can play a key role in the student review process, leading\u00a0to higher levels of student attendance.
